Dear Alabama Society Members,
We are gearing up for our Historic Virtual State Workshop. First let me start with a description of our final product, The 2020 State Workshop will be a video distributed throughout the members in the state. This video will be made up of smaller videos that are made by you. Everything will be edited together and compiled into this year’s workshop!
What do I need from you?
State Society Members can sign up for different rituals to video themselves speaking.
The video needs to be filmed in landscape format (horizontal). Make sure you speak up, slowly and clearly to be heard. Try to film from an interesting or historic spot if possible.
Society Presidents: send a video less than 2 minutes long of telling about your society. Include interesting information about your area that makes it historic or unique.
Society Presidents: Each Society President should send in a video no longer that 2 minutes introducing yourself, your senior and your society. You may give any background information about your society including awards and membership. Include interesting information about your area and why someone might want to come visit.
Committee Chairs: Each Committee Chairman should send in a video no longer that 2 minutes introducing yourself, your senior and your society. Find an interesting way to give information about the objectives of your committee and promote the national contest from your committee.
State Officers: Each State officer should send a video no longer than 2 minutes introducing yourself, your senior, your office, and a description of your officer duties and your fun fact/information specific to your office. 1st VP- There are no US Presidents from Alabama but give some details about our only US VP; 2nd VP- Veteran Homes in Alabama; Chaplain- National Cemeteries located in Alabama; Organizing Secretary- The Great Seal of the United States; Recording Secretary- Background on American Village; Corresponding Secretary- Promote the use of the national website, how to log in and what you will find there; Treasurer- Promote the National Project Merchandise Fundraiser and how to purchase; Registrar- How many societies and members in Alabama? If you are in good standing you can move into DAR/SAR at age 18 and keep dual membership in C.A.R; Historian- Veteran’s Museum; Librarian- give a book recommendation on the American Revolution and Alabama History; Curator- Information on the Alabama Archives.
I need you to follow up with your member to make sure that they are aware of their duty and then to check with them as the date gets closer that they have contributed their assigned items.
How do you get it to me?
Each contributor will receive an email with the google drive link. You will save it to the google drive using the link provided in the email. Save the video with a filename that includes your name and society.
When do I need it?
Videos need to be submitted by Monday, October 5th.
What else can you do?
Send in other videos of fun Alabama facts, patriotic songs you are performing, or anything you would like to share about the national project, state project, state volunteer program.
How will it be distributed?
In participating in the video, please know that it will be viewed by state members, seniors and other closely related C.A R. supporters.
What if I do not want my image used?
You can send an audio recording or a written statement that will be read by another member.
